Chelsea is home to numerous galleries, with the epicenter of the art scene out on 10th and 11th avenues. Further west you’ll find the West Side Highway, an idyllic path along the Hudson River that's frequented by runners, bikers, and walkers. It’s also one of the best places to take in a sunset in the city. For foodies, there’s Chelsea Market, which carries everything from live lobsters to gourmet cheeses.
Another popular destination is the High Line, where a set of old train tracks have been transformed into an elevated park. In the summer, the walking path that spans from Gansevoort to 34th St. turns into a fun, festive boardwalk.

In Chelsea, traffic can be loud, and streets are usually crowded with pedestrians during the day. If you want to escape the crowds, try the more subdued West Chelsea past 9th avenue.
